EP #19: Fearless in Shadows

“I realized at a very early age that people tend to value what you bring to the table more than your appearance. It doesn’t matter whether you’re short or tall, petite, or ripped, slender or big-boned. What matters is what you carry on the inside.” – Excerpt.

In this podcast, I talk about:

  • How if you focus on a shadow, you really won’t be able to see the real thing casting the shadow on the wall.
  • Five reasons why we must be FEARLESS.
  • Why as a Christian, the word “shadow” to me signifies problems that the enemy has magnified such that they falsely appear bigger than the solutions God has already provided.
  • How the “Rule of Opposites” works in God’s kingdom, and it’s this: If you are a child of God, you can be fearless because no matter what negative comes your way, there is an opposite positive effect from God. And the positive always wins at the end of the day (I give examples of Biblical shadows and their opposites in the episode).

EP #18: Don’t Touch It: Are You Ready for Pruning Pain?

“I sat down with him, looked into his fearful eyes, and told him this, “Whenever you injure a muscle, you have to keep exercising that muscle even though it’s painful to do so, because exercise is what will ultimately strengthen and heal that muscle.” – Excerpt.

In this podcast, I talk about:

  • How pain can have an unexpected favorable outcome.
  • The story of how I had to explain to my son that sometimes you have to massage a sore muscle for it to heal.
  • Why if you are not ready to experience pruning pain, then you’re not ready to bear more fruit.
  • Why when you’re walking in one direction, and God cautions you and tells you to walk in a different direction, that’s pruning! Just obey. You may be shocked, or angry, or your ego may be bruised, but it’s for your own good.

EP #17: Backstory: A Critical Piece of Your Success Story

Today, on the Winning Morning Convos, I want to challenge you to pay attention to your backstory.

In this podcast, I talk about:

  • How you need to pay attention to your backstory because your backstory is what makes your testimony sweet.
  • How no success story I’ve ever studied and no person I’ve interviewed was an overnight success.
  • Why if you are sitting there right now comparing yourself with someone you know or admire, maybe you should take some time out to study their backstory first. You will realize that you don’t want that backstory. Walk in your unique journey and embrace your authentic story.
  • Tauren Wells’ journey: the comparison between when he was 16 (his backstory) to where he is right now touring the world leading millions of people into worship, and being married and a father of three.

EP #16: Guest – Toyin Ope – There is No Baby Holy Spirit

We’ve been talking about the power inside us, the promise of God — the Holy Spirit. I’ve got to say that this podcast episode is one of my favorites, and maybe, just maybe, it’s because our guest shared about God’s power expressed in her 4-year old daughter.

Toyin Ope is first and foremost a beloved daughter of God. She is also a wife and mother to two amazing little kids. Toyin is an ordained minister and serves in both youth and women’s ministries. Toyin is a certified public accountant (CPA), has an MBA from Queen’s University, and has worked in the Oil and Gas industry for 12 years in 5 countries across 4 different continents. She specializes in Social Investment — managing a portfolio of corporate-sponsored programs to bring about positive social change for the marginalized and underrepresented youth in America.

In this podcast, Toyin talks about:

  • Why there is nothing like a baby Holy Spirit (she shares stories of her daughter as an example).
  • How we need to pay more attention to the internal dialogue that goes on in the brains of our kids because God can manifest His power in children too.
  • How the biggest manifestation of the Holy Spirit in her life has been what He has done on the inside of her (before anything external). “When the Holy Spirit comes into your heart, you fall in love. You’re not trying to see how far you can get before it’s sin, instead, you’re like, “How close can I stay?””
